Action Figure Digest #177

$7.00

So many things to tempt die-hard action figure collectors to keep the hobby alive and well. Smart collectors still have to be selective in difficult times. Unique quality figures will increase in value when chase figures demand collapses. Hasbro’s Marvel figures continue to show improvement and the small line continues to build collector interest as the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film release draw near.

Playmates has breathed new life into the Terminator series with its Terminator Salvation movie line with a great figure look and packaging. It has the right look the kids are turned onto today, leaving the bright colored packaging the retailers love to the Mattel Batman line.

DC Direct is making its own appeal to the collectors market at retail, but the price points are making many collectors hesitant.

Hasbro’s Star Wars has the best looking series seen in quite a few releases, while NECA also has some nice looking additions to its Player Select line.

Tonner Character Figures, AFD’s cover story, has outdone themselves with the latest additions to its Harry Potter line. The Richard Harris Professor Dumbledore figure is nothing short of exquisite. It shows action figures can be investment grade art. Only 500 of these marvelous figures were made and while they cost 10 times the run of the mill figure, the collector will be way ahead in the long run.
